This week's photo is of the Alpha Iota chapter of Delta Sigma Pi. I am so blessed and honored to call myself a brother of such a prestigious organization of business professionals. I am lucky to have these people in my life plus the other hundreds of thousands scattered throughout the world. Nothing is quite like socializing, serving the community, learning, and much more with others who share your same passions. Believe me when I say, "I'm damn proud to be a Deltasig!"
This week's photo is an Instagram shot of the Belin Quartet. I am so blessed to have the opportunity to intern for Civic Music Associstion. If you are unfamiliar with both CMA and Belin, check out www.civicmusic.org! You'll be glad you did. And while I'm at it, mark your calendars now for the summer lunchtime concert series. 10 concerts spanning 10 weeks this summer occurring at a few of the most iconic places Des Moines has to offer. Fridays at 12:15pm from May 31st to August 2nd. This year is set to be better than ever so come out and enjoy lunch while listening to some of the best string quartet music ever written!
Who knew I'd love cooking so much? Aside from my busy educational and professional life, trying some new recipes is what I'm all about. Cooked up some delicious pulled pork this evening. I think I'll add some food posts in addition to my weekly photo journal!
This is Piston. He's our latest foster dog and is ready for a home! My parents and I started fostering greyhounds when I was in elementary school. A grand total of 30+ greyhounds have learned how to walk up and down stairs, go to the bathroom outside (not inside!), and more in our home. Volunteering for Midwest Greyhound Adoption has been a great experience and I'm looking forward to continuing my participation following graduation. I might not look to adopt right away, but helping out is definitely in the cards. If you're interested in a greyhound, please feel free to ask me or go to www.midwestgreyhound.org.
First photo post of the year. This one is to honor my dad who has been my best friend for my entire life. Although we have had out fair share of arguments and grievances, I am so blessed to have him as my father. Cheers to you, daddio! I love you.
Another holiday season has come and gone. With each passing day, I hear another bone creak, feel another joint crack, and notice another hair fall from my head. Okay, well maybe not yet, but still these years are flying by! And since the years are flying by, I suppose I'll mention some resolutions for 2013 and see if I can accomplish them by this time next year (unlike 2012):
1. Blog This is my second attempt at writing a blog. I need to figure out a theme that is both interesting to me and captivating to my immense audience...(insert crickets). Perhaps a photo of the week! This will keep my photography alive and up to date. 2. Shape 2012 was a roller coaster ride for my health and the last 6 months was a drop comparable to that of Raging Bull at 6-Flags Great Anerica. It's time to get back on track and shed some pounds and get back into shape. Looking at a goal of 2lbs per week. 3. Spending So with all this talk about America's debt and overspending problem, I figure it's time I start paying closer attention to my finances. I plan on keeping a tight budget for 2013. A resolution that will help me be frugal and prepare me for life post-college, too! So those are my top three resolutions. I'll post updates hopefully each and every week. Happy New Year! Make 2013 the best year yet! |
